Mike Campos began his martial arts training in 1959 in NYC. He served as a military policeman from 1961-1964. In 1969 he began instructing martial arts, and in 1974 he opened the Zen-Do Kai Martial Arts Studio in Johnstown, NY, and established the Zen-Do Kai Martial Arts Association..

In 1976 he began instructing police and sheriff's agencies in Defensive Tactics. The U.S. Karate Association (USKA) and the Justice system Training Association (JSTA) certified him as a trainer in 1979. He is also certified in the PR-24 and Expandable Baton (ASP).

In 1999 Campos retired after a 31 year career in education and now devotes himself entirely to learning and teaching martial arts.
